welcome back to another wednesday night intermission! as a refresher, this space will be more stripped down, more lowkey. these’ll be posts every other week in lieu of the traditional volumes we know and love

what kind of texter are you? do you use exclamation points? keep it informal? or follow MLA formatting?

i thought about this the other night when it comes to dating platonically aka making friends. if you’ve moved around in your life, you know exactly what i’m talking about

when we first moved to Austin way back during freshman year of COVID, i tried making friends with the laundry repair guy who was a good dude and around our age. we had a good convo so i said fuck it why not

we exchanged numbers and talked about grabbing a bev. now at this point, i’m not tryna text raw, play 21 questions, or send memes with no context

i’m an IG guy, i’d rather play the long game and like a couple posts here and there along with story replies with the classic laughing emoji reaction and “lmao” combo 🥲

i asked him for his IG to get the ball rolling..

then i saw his profile. it was full of horny monster art!! which is…not for me lmao

I'm not kink shaming, I'm kink asking why.

things fizzled out after that because i could not relate to bricked up he-wolfs starting straight into me soul. also didn’t help that we were green texting cause he had an Android 🤪

this was a reminder that making friends as we get older takes investment. they take time and we have to accept the ebbs and flows as they come

same goes for friends that are in different stages of their lives, whether they’re having kids, moved away, or have a time-consuming job. sometimes those closest to us in proximity we see the least for one reason or another

i probably will only go back home twice next year and that’s a tough pill to swallow. only seeing friends and family for such a small period of time is a bummer

but! we have Facetime, voice messages, and the laughing emoji reaction + “lmao” DM to let them know we’re thinking of them 😌❤️‍🔥
