memes of the week 🤠
why drink energy when anxiety is free

the sunday setlist always hits different

that’s the best part
my sister and i have an ongoing dialogue about the cars universe at least once a week
it’s been a minute, y’all! feeling a ton of appreciation seeing 31. i got to spend a ton of quality time with friends and family and loved every second of it
Josh helped capture some of those moments here:

Dance II
Discovery Zone
Released: 2020
after grilling out at my dad’s for my birthday, we headed to the airport. it was a mini roadtrip so Josh just played hella music he’s been meaning to show me. i couldn’t stop listening to these tracks
it reminded me of all the roadtrips we’ve taken during our friendship. he’s one of the few people in my life where i can be low energy and just let go
it can be exhausting at times to be on and keep the social battery flowing. sometimes i just need to shut up and vibe to recharge. and that’s the perfect recipe for a roadtrip!
there wasn’t a sense of melancholy once we hit our final destination. it’s never goodbye, it’s always see you later. a beautiful cap to the trip
Trouble Man
Marvin Gaye
Released: 1972
I come up hard, baby, but now I'm cool
I didn't make it, sugar, playing by the rules
I come up hard, baby, but now I'm fine
I'm checking trouble, sugar, moving down the line
i’m always surprised when i learn about bangers on movie soundtracks (e.g. The Bodyguard’s soundtrack). +1000 if it’s an album specifically made for a film, with this record included
accompanying the movie Trouble Man, this was Marvin’s first album to be written and produced solely himself. the only other being 1981’s In Our Lifetime
it brings me back to a time where there was careful thought and process for the vibes. compare that to nowadays where there is a ton of empty calories on mainstream movie soundtracks (i.e. the soundtrack for Fast & Furious 🙄)
i care so much because movie soundtracks can take us back to the feeling of watching the movie for the first time (similar to original scores). like i’ll always think of Forgetting Sarah Marshall whenever i listen to Cake lmao:
(side note: why / how does this video exist? is this from a theater or from home? do we like or love the cinematography of the recording itself? thanks YouTube!)
Get Down Feat. Quiet Storm
East Coast Love Affair
Released: 2023
file this under contemporary music that has that old school sound. i found this on Allday Pizza’s restaurant playlist
what’s Allday? it’s a pizza spot out here in Austin that just opened and the vibes are immaculate. while we still haven’t been yet, i already know i’m gonna love it based on the music alone:
i love it when restaurants / shops put time into their playlist. it gives them a chance to express their personality
for example: one of our favorite Austin restaurants, Birdie’s (featured in Josh’s TikTok), will always close with 90’s R&B to wrap up the evening. it’s the little things that add to the experience that make it that much more memorable
now i can take a lil of a restaurant i’ve never been wherever i go. shoutout to all the vibe curators across the world:
👏 you 👏 are 👏 valid 👏
