the weather has been smooth here in Austin as we come out of our mild(ish) winter. itās 75-80 with some cloud in the skies and a breeze

i was really, really surprised when this album dropped. i had no idea heād try this sound after doing a Detroit rap album and having been in the general trap lane since he first came out. no one couldāve predicted his career after he blew up with āOne Nightā way back in 2016. (editorās note: damn iām getting old)
this is his ālistens to Tame Impala onceā phase lmao. joking aside, top to bottom heās able to manipulate his voice to match the psychedelic vibes
i love this song in particular because heās crooning on and on about the longing that comes with a relationship. weāve all been there whether itās with an actual person or something metaphysical
i shouldnāt be surprised with this level of depth, but matched with the psych rock / soul vibes, it works! the whole album in general is great, i recommend checking it out

after Veronica and i rewatched Fargo for the umpteenth time recently, weāve been on a Frances McDormand binge hungry to watch whatever sheās been in. randomly, she was in Somethingās Gotta Give lmao:
i remembered liking her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,Ā Missouri and Veronica hadnāt seen it yet, so we put it on the other night
i was frustrated after watching it. the plot was all over the place and it felt divisive for the sake of being divisive. the cast was able to carry the poorly written script (imo), with Frances putting the team on her back. i was confounded when i learned it was nominated for 7 oscars?? and hella people liked it on Letterboxd? i just donāt agree
we needed a palette cleanser after. YouTubeās algorithm sent us a lifeline with this HAIM compilation of their tour promos:
for their euro tour promo they had this Spice Girls song playing and it was instant comfort food! it was sorely needed after that watch. i love how DIY they do their promos and how they have choreo / theme for each of them

As someone who also was always n e r v o u s about pool parties as a child because of my skin condition, I know how you felt. Unfortunately, this uneasiness followed me to middle school because I would change for gym in a bathroom stall. BUT I GOT OVER IT! Anyway, I know this piece is mostly centered around spring so it made me chuckle that you watched Fargo. I always watch that during the winter lol.
