every now and then i’ll reissue an old volume of Run It Back so we can see how things have evolved over time. it’s a nice stroll down memory lane 🤠
vol. 118 was a lil reminder on what Run it Back is about. it’s dope to see this guiding light still ring true while closing in on our 4 year(!!) anniversary 😌

when i say you are my everything, this is what i mean
i was asked recently who the main audience for Run It Back is.
let’s start with what it’s not. i hate classifying y’all as people aged 24-35 that live in major cities and listen to both Young Thug and Kacey Musgraves unironically. it feels…icky.
especially in an era where companies and algorithms are constantly operating behind the scenes mining our data
Run It Back is for real people, not whatever category fits ads. you might like it if you:
at a high level know who the important artists are in our history, understood the memes, but never went deep
were there for Limewire, iTunes, and would download mixtapes from sites like DatPiff
discovered music during the blog era in the early 2010s
like to discover music not in a pretentious way
are tired of algorithms and want music recommendations for your playlist
want to get to know someone through music and their experiences
at a bare minimum, i hope you laugh. at a maximum, i want you to get to know me and others better while discovering something new
simply put: Run It Back is me texting my friends about music and my life
